Summer Concert – Summer 24

Tickets to the Sinfonietta Summer Concert are now available! The concert will take place in the Imperial College Great Hall (Sherfield Building, South Kensington Campus) at 7pm on Sunday 9th June. Performances will include Carrownagappul composed by our very own conductor William Carslake and conducted by Sinfonietta’s founder and former conductor Daniel Capps, Sibelius’s Violin Concerto with our wonderful soloist Jason Bae, along with Moberg’s Sunrise from Tondikt/Sunrise Suite and Sibelius’s Karelia Suite; the concert is sure to be a fantastic evening of exceptional musicianship!

Carrownagappul was composed by Sinfonietta’s current conductor Bill Carslake under commission from the Harry Woolhouse Trust, inspired by the Carrownagappul bog in East Galway, Ireland. Bogs are vital ecosystems for the environment and for carbon capture, and despite only making up 3% of the world’s surface, they account for twice the carbon storage efficacy of all the world’s trees and forests. Carrownagappul will be conducted by Sinfonietta’s founder and former conductor Daniel Capps, and will include an echo band made up of our wonderful alumni from the past 27 years! For more information about Carrownagappul, please follow this link!
